Ok, I hold my hands up, the handful of kindly beta testers with system glitches scaled rather badly into more than a handful of angry users! It’s largely thanks to Jack (jpnelson40 on the forum) that I figured out a potential cause of the problems. You’ll notice I said potential there… I still cannot replicate the actual issue myself, but I have a hunch that a change I made prior to 2.0.1 - ironically to increase robustness ahead of the public release - could well have made it less stable. I’m feeling rather foolish right now :)

So to make ammends, I’ve got a (fairly extensive) patch release here, and I hope it does the job.
Broadly speaking, it is attempting to fix the ‘Oops… system encountered an error’ problem, muting unwanted beta debugging messages, and disabling Korean language support which must have been irritating the living daylights out of our Korean friends ;)

Download it from http://gtdinbox.com/gtdinbox_2-0-2.xpi, discuss it over in the forum, or email me!

(By the way, I’m up against the clock to get this out - there are more updates to come soon - but right now I wanted to address the show stopping issues. If you don’t have any issues, you might want to wait until you upgrade).

    Hi there…

Do you think you could make this update available in a format that us Mac folks can retrieve?

    Thanks!

Thanks, Andy! This version helps me so much. (I’m nolonger need to be dragged here and there to replace locale files.)

    Thanks Kay :)

Mark - the XPI format should be fine. You need to,
    1) Download the file
    2) Open Firefox
    3) In Firefox, click ‘File’, then ‘Open File’, and select the .xpi you downloaded
    4) The normal Addon installation process should now begin!

    Hi Andy,

FYI — Both 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 give me the “Oops…” error

Since installing 2.0.1 (2.0.2 has the same problem) GTDInbox does not work with my Gmail any more. In Firefox the menu alternatives in Tools are gone too - so no trace of GTDInbox except in the add-ons list.

Got any suggestions? The same thing happened on two computers at the same time, with the upgrade going in. Im running Firefox 2.0.0.12.

@Magnus - this sounds a lot like you’re using Gmail 1, which GTDInbox 2 isn’t designed to work with.

You can switch to Gmail 2, or you can continue to use GTDInbox 1.34 - either way, check out http://gtdinbox.com/faq.htm for exact tips on what to do!

    Hi

I have been using GTD for ages and just love hitting that “Finished” button!

Whilst innocently browsing the settings of GMail the other day I displayed a hint of patriotism and switched the language from “English (US)” to “English (UK)”. It was only today that I realise this was the point that GTDInbox stopped working.

I am not sure what changes are made by switching language, but wondered if you wanted to look into fixing this at some point in the future, for fear of alienating all your British followers.

Cheers, keep up the good work!

    Stuart

@Stuart - I see I’m in good company for I am also a native of this sceptred isle… but the problem lies with Google. Well, not a problem per se, you see GTDInbox 2 requires Gmail 2, and Gmail 2 is only availble if your language is in US English :) Hopefully Google is busy rolling out multi-lingual versions as we speak, but they’ve indicated no ETA as of yet…

    Thanks!

I was running the swedish language setting, which of course was the problem. Everything works fine now, nice improvements in GTDInbox 2!
