UserVoice - An Overview
We are now using UserVoice to gather ideas for feature development, rather than the traditional forum. The reason for this is simply that it is much more effective for combining multiple ideas.
The idea is delightfully straightforward: when you submit something, it tells you what else it thinks is similar and already exists. If you agree it is a similar idea, you can then vote the existing one up and add your own thoughts/perspectives to it.
As you will no doubt immediately recognise, this makes it very good at creating one place for an improvement suggestion, and then evolving and prioritising it.
Let’s Be More Interesting…
The risk/problem with UserVoice is that we end with very fragmented requests, “do X”, “do Y”, etc.; rather than “I use it like A and want to achieve B”.
So, I’d like to use the blog right now to do precisely that.
The real question is, “What do you use GTDInbox to achieve, and what would you like email to do better?”
If it helps, I will kick it off with my own thoughts. I use it for workflow and shortcuts. So, it structures my email largely to ensure I do not forget things - I’m always 99% confident I will follow up on an email I turned into a task. The shortcuts fall into two categories: I like direct things like ‘Preview’ and the Labelling Box, and more general benefits (that arise from multiple features), like being able to retrieve files and other information faster from a contact.
What I want it to start doing is get better at helping me organise my inbox (so I can spend less time with email - lazy email, if you will), and provide more shortcuts that connect my email to additional information/resources on the Web, and vice-versa.
I look forward to your comments!

Hi,
I use GTDInbox as a general-purpose online GTD tool rather than something specific to emails. Whenever I remember a pending task, I send an email to myself and then mark it with the appropriate labels.
To be very honest, I do this because as far as I know, there is no other online GTD tool that is as easy to use as GTDInbox. I tried RTM and also the RTM Gmail plugin, but found the UI too cumbersome. And the simple & elegant flexibility of creating as many Projects & Contexts as you want did not exist.
It would be great to have some sort of reminder and calender integrated into GTD Inbox; with the emphasis on ease-of-use.
cheers

I love GTDInbox.
The one thing I’d like to see, which I don’t know whether it’s allowed under orthodox GTD (and yes, I am being a little saracastic); are due dates (and reminders). A good deal of my tasks need getting done as soon as they reach the top of the queue, but other critical tasks need getting done at a certain time.
How about some integration with Google Calendar, so I can set up tasks with and without due dates (and reminders) from a common GTDInbox interface?

I was using GTDinbox regularly and loved it, but the last gmail or gtdinbox (2.0.11.6) upgrade made it impossible. The categories of labels (Projects, Contexts, Misc, etc.) have disappeared from my gmail page and I can’t get them back. The preferences for GTDinbox are grayed out and inaccessible now (tools/addons/). Not sure what to do. Using Mac OS 10.5.7 on Firefox 3.0.11. I have tried reinstalling. No luck. I’m ready to give up on this.

I use Things on my iPod for all my tasks and I use GTDInbox as a supplement. I image a lot of people already have another system for tasks outside of email, though I could be wrong.
I use GTDInbox to label my mail so I can easily find all mail related to a project. I use it to find files sent for a particular project. It would be convenient to have a button that brings up a list of attachments for all emails in a project.
I also use it to keep track of things I need to do that has been sent by clients, however most client emails sent to me aren’t tasks. Clients may send me many emails with bits of content. It’d be nice to group them into one item with the subject of “Content” and add that to my Next list instead of having 5 different emails all with related info on the next list.
